4 Elegant Ways to Store Your Clothes

The elegant way to store your clothes is to decide what to fold, hang or stack. That depends on a number of things, such as how much space you have in your dressers and closets, your personal habits, the kind of clothes you own, and the materials they are made of.

Clothing organizations can be challenging.

If you cram too many pieces into a small space it will make it difficult to see all your clothing options.

A week’s outfit plan could include open storage solutions. Place your pre-planned outfits for the week on a garment rack. Just make sure you get yourself some beautiful hangers.

1. Hanging clothes

The Choice of hangers is the first thing to think about when hanging clothes. The large, sturdy hangers help clothing pieces hold their shapes in storage.

  • Suits, Jackets, and Blazers: Hang blazers, jackets, and suits together in the closet and sort them by color, if you like;
  • Blouses: Some material, especially linen definitely needs to be hung. Blauses made from silk, chiffon and rayon should be not folded and stacked in a drawer;
  • Pants: This does necessitate a taller space, such as a long hang area for storing coats and dresses. You can organize these by colour and material if you want to get organized
  • Skirts: Same skirts could be hung, other fold. That is depending on their function: skirts for work, fancy clothes, the beach or summer, and casual skirts.
  • Dresses: Most of your dresses, but not all, need vertical space in your walk-in. Most dresses should always be hung, with the exception of heavy sweater dresses or any kind of heavy dress. These may eventually stretch when hung. Fold these to prevent this from happening.

2. Folding clothes

  • Sweaters: Sweaters should be kept folded in your dresser. You can fold sweaters and put them on a shelf if you have more room in your closet. Hanging them can cause the fabric to stretch out, resulting in tiny bumps in the shoulders that can ruin the shape of your sweater.
  • Activewear and jeans: Anything you wear to the gym, such as yoga pants, workout tops, or activewear, should be folded. Keyser warns that when hanged, these can become wavy and stretched out.

3. Stacking clothes

  • Knitwear: Shelves at the top of closets are a great way to make use of space that would otherwise be wasted above clothes rails. Use shelves instead when storing bulky items like chunky knitwear and sweaters that could get snagged or stretched if hung on a hanger. When stacked in a pile, thicker items fold easily, do not crease or lose their shape, and are easier to access than when tucked away in drawers.
  • T-shirts: A T-shirt is one item that can be stacked, folded, or hung. There is no question that hanging them lowers the likelihood of wrinkles. However, most contemporary tees contain some stretchy fibre, such as Lycra or something similar, making them virtually wrinkle-free in any circumstance, even when folded.

4. Clear storage boxes

It will help with visibility and gives you a clear view of the items you use the most.

  • Belts, especially the thick ones.
  • Shapewear, underwear, swimwear and bras
  • Silk scarves
